Greg Murphy, an inventive and versatile pianist with an epic sense of the pure and beautiful, is a formidable talent. Throughout his musical career, he has accumulated a vast number of stories, and those stories are woven into the fabric of his material. "Bright Idea", his trio recording with Jeff “Tain” Watts and Eric Wheeler, comes together in a way that embraces all of the places Murphy has been, from his grinding, intensive study in New York, his time in New Orleans with Ellis Marsalis, his pop-funk days in Chicago, and his Latin jazz work with Raphael Cruz. It is a well and fully rounded musical adventure, rife with dimension and color, and his most fully realized recording yet. At this point in his career, we would expect no less. Recorded, produced and arranged by Murphy, Bright Idea features mainly originals, with a few exceptions, including a torrid rendition of the Pharrell Williams tune “Happy.” With Watts and Wheeler alongside, Murphy achieves an energetic vitality on the session, especially on tracks like the newly discovered Coltrane composition, “Untitled Original 11383,” a twelve-bar blues, and Joe Ford’s “Earthlings.” But throughout the album there is generosity, reciprocity and the desire to make memorable and triumphant music. Bright Idea, Greg Murphy’s second Whaling City Sound project and fifth overall, is his strongest statement as a leader and his most beautifully played collection of stories. 2018 Matzka 全新专辑 《Matzka Station 第二关》即将登场第一关 东南美 第二关 Matzka StationMatzka用游戏的思维挑战生活的难关，突破常规、创建关卡再使大绝破关无论音乐．事业．感情．家庭．破关就是他的成长方式来自台湾台东排湾族的 Matzka，天生血液中就是浓浓雷鬼基因，从创作、演奏到唱腔，只要听到他的音乐，就能一秒抵达心中所向往的南洋小岛，看着纯白的沙滩、吹着海风、跟着雷鬼乐轻松摇摆。创作超过十年，Matzka的第一张专辑《东南美Vu Vu Reggae》讲述人与大自然间的深刻连结，而在创作第二张专辑时，他已经是个娶了老婆还生了两个女儿的男人了，才惊觉女人才是宇宙最大的谜团！于是他将生活中关于女性角色所有的迷思写进了专辑，用音乐带领全天下男人，进入《Matzka Station 第二关》，一起勇闯美人关。首波诙谐主打《I’m Sorry》 唱出已婚男子的女人关倒叙手法x 黑色幽默 超现实影像风格藏电玩情节每个已婚男子都需要渡过女人关，面对生活中可能出现的挑逗，脑中浮现家中的亲爱的老婆，要如何面对挑战全身而退？这就是「I’m Sorry」这首歌的创作灵感。由 Matzka 全词曲创作，结合放克与饶舌，搭配充满戏谑性的合音编写，还有入围金曲奖两项大奖的键盘手Martin “Musa” Musaubach与知名金奖制作人荒井十一亲自录制的打击乐加持，《I’m Sorry》成为一首音乐性丰富又让人不禁莞尔的幽默歌曲。不仅充分表达了已婚男子的无奈，丰富的场景叙述更让人忍不住幻想真有个火辣的比基尼女郎，拿着一杯马丁尼朝自己走来。新锐导演谢干干仔细品味这首歌后竟提出一个充满黑色幽默的拍摄脚本，没想到 Matzka 大为兴奋，并且将自己喜欢的电玩风格融入其中，成为华语乐坛难得一见的影像风格。故事一开始 Matzka 身处漆黑仓库，左手无名指被剁下，几个拿刀的邪恶女人敲击着节奏，让人紧张又摸不清头绪。随着影片倒叙进行，才发现原来 Matzka 被灌下迷药、捆绑刑求、与女子军团搏斗，最后真相大白，原来Matzka 收到老婆被绑架的讯息，才深入险境抢救老婆，不过最后还藏着一些让人惊讶的线索！不看到最后一刻，无法发现暗藏其中的惊人真相！ 爱打电动的人一定也会发现MV中Matzka 抢劫车子的画面与知名电玩 GTA 的经典抢车模式如出一彻，整个营救人质的故事情节也藏着许多电玩元素。这是爱玩电玩的Matzka送给电玩同好的一点小小乐趣，带着游戏的精神，人生中的许多难关也许反而更容易迎刃而解吧！
